Get a new identity verification link
If your identity verification link expired or you never received one, you'll need a new link to complete verification and receive your payout. This guide explains how to get a new link and what to expect during the verification process.
Why you need identity verification
Dots requires identity verification before you can receive certain payouts. This is a compliance requirement that helps protect your account and ensures payouts go to the right person.
You'll typically be asked to verify your identity when:
You're receiving your first payout from a new payer
Your account was flagged for additional verification
Your previous verification information needs updating
If your verification link expired
Identity verification links expire after 24 hours. If you try to use an expired link, you won't be able to complete verification.
To get a new link:
Log in to my.dots.dev. You should be prompted to verify your ID once you access the dashboard.
If you are not prompted, please contact the Dots Support Team at [email protected].
When you receive the new link, have your government-issued ID and a device with a camera ready
Complete the selfie and ID upload process as soon as possible—new links also expire after 24 hours
Dots support can send you a fresh verification link. Contact them at [email protected] if your link expired or never arrived.
If the verification link never arrived
If you were expecting a verification link but didn't receive it:
Check your spam or junk folder
Confirm your email address is correct with your payer
Ask the Support Team to resend the verification link
If your verification session expired
A verification session can expire while you're mid-flow, even after you've uploaded your ID. When you start verification again, Dots resumes your existing session and issues a fresh one; if the provider can't resume it, Dots creates a new session automatically.
Return to the verification page in your dashboard and start verification again.
If the page instead says the flow is no longer available and to request a new link, contact Dots support at [email protected] for a fresh link.
An expired verification session is different from a phone-code problem. If your issue is a delayed or expired SMS code for logging in, see Recover access to your account.
If your ID photo won't capture
ID verification uses your device's camera. Have a valid, unexpired government-issued ID and a device with a working camera ready before you start, then retry the capture if it fails.
Confirm your device has a working camera.
Have a valid, unexpired government-issued ID ready before you start the capture.
Retry the capture. If it fails again, start verification again from your dashboard.
What happens after you complete verification
After you submit your ID and selfie, your verification enters review. You'll see one of these states:
"Your identity verification is undergoing review" — Your verification is being processed. Allow at least 5 business days for review. You can leave the page and return later; it will update automatically when complete.
"We weren't able to match the ID you gave with the information on your account" — The name on your ID doesn't match the name on your Dots account. Contact your payer to resolve this mismatch.
For more details on review states and what each means, see Why is my account flagged or under review?
If your account is still flagged after review
Completing identity verification doesn't always clear the account. If your account is still flagged after the review finishes, your verification may have failed the ID match, or your account may be under a separate review that isn't resolved by verification alone.
Check your dashboard for the current review state and any message about why your account is flagged.
If the message says the ID doesn't match the name on your account, contact your payer to correct the name on file.
Allow at least 5 business days for the review before contacting support. If your account remains flagged after that, contact Dots support at [email protected] for your specific account status.
For the full list of review states and what each means, see Why is my account flagged or under review?
If you see "Payouts Unavailable"
If your dashboard shows "Payouts Unavailable" with the message "Payouts are not available for your account," this is different from an expired verification link. This state means your account has a restriction that prevents payouts entirely.
If you see this message, contact Dots support for more information about your specific account status.
Tips for successful verification
To avoid delays during identity verification:
Use a valid, unexpired government-issued ID
