Enable two-factor authentication for your account
Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Dots account by requiring a code from your authenticator app when you log in. You can set up 2FA from your Dots Dashboard profile.
Enable two-factor authentication
Log in to the Dots Dashboard
Navigate to Profile → OTP
Click Set up two-factor authentication
Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password)
If you cannot scan the QR code, click Copy next to the Setup key field and manually enter the key into your authenticator app
Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator into the Code from authenticator field
Click Verify
After verification, two-factor authentication is enabled. You'll see a confirmation message: Two-factor authentication enabled!
The setup key appears only when the provisioning response includes one. If you don't see a setup key field, use the QR code to complete setup.
Using the setup key fallback
The setup key lets you manually configure your authenticator app when scanning a QR code isn't possible—for example, if your camera isn't working or you're setting up on a device without a camera.
To use the setup key:
Click Copy next to the Setup key field
Open your authenticator app and choose the option to add an account manually
Paste the setup key into the key field
Enter the 6-digit code the app generates into the Code from authenticator field
Click Verify
Logging in with 2FA
Once two-factor authentication is enabled, you'll enter a 6-digit code from your authenticator app each time you log in:
Enter your email and password
Enter your 6-digit authenticator code
Click Log In
Check Remember my account during signup or Skip on this browser during OTP verification to streamline future logins on trusted devices.
Disable two-factor authentication
To turn off 2FA:
Navigate to Profile → OTP
Click Disable two-factor authentication
You'll see a confirmation: Two-factor authentication disabled.
Disabling 2FA removes the extra security layer from your account. Re-enable it as soon as possible if you disabled it temporarily.
